Antivirus software?

Antivirus software is a computer program that detects, prevents and take action to disarm, neutralise and remove viruses and worm. In order to protect the computer, we need to install antivirus software. Computer virus is very dangerous because it can interfere with computer operations by record, corrupt or delete the data. It can also spread through internet. It is crucial for the users to install and update the antivirus regularly and this will prevent the computer been infected by any virus. The computer can easily been infected within minutes through internet if the computer do not have antivirus software. There are several different companies develop the antivirus software like Norton Antivirus, Karpesky Antivirus, F-secure Antivirus and Bit Defender Antivirus (just name a few) that perform some basic functions:
1.       Scan specific file or directories for any virus or warm
2.       Allow you to schedule the scans
3.       Allow you to scan specific lash drive at any time
4.       Detect, neutralise and remove virus and worm

The internet is not a secure place even the most tech-savvy users have a relatively high likelihood of downloading virus or worm. This is where antivirus come about to protect computers but the question is how antivirus protect our computer.

1.       Protect from viruses
Viruses are the most well-known computer attackers and they can do all sort of damages to the computer or smartphones. There are many types of viruses that each have the ability to compromise computers in different ways. Once virus has been infected the computer, they can make the computer slow down the speed, delete critical or important files, images, system and in the worst case scenario, it will physically destroy the computer. When this happen, it can cost you thousand to repair and discover back the lost files.

2.       Protect form Spyware and Identity Theft
Spyware is a software specifically designed to infect the computer while spying on the users. Spyware seeks and steals information that stored on the computer. This can include personal data, financial data, passwords, and credit card data. Some spyware also able to record and save the data in real time. Spyware will capture financial data like credit card information during the online transactions. The hackers will use the information to make online transaction, online banking and etc.

3.       Protect from spam
Spam normally link with emails. The spam most likely will give virus to infect the computer and indirectly will affected the computer performance.
